Is It Time To Move On?

“If you don’t like or love your product, leave it.” – Ben Brown

I was recently talking to a colleague about their business and how much it had changed over the years. Listening to them, I realized they just weren’t enthused about the work they were doing. In fact, they sounded miserable. Everything else was going great for them – marriage, kids, even finances. But the passion behind the business they started was gone. Eventually, this could carry over into the rest of their world. Maybe, it’s time to let go.

Seeing them like this reminded of an article written by a colleague, Sales Coach, Trainer and Speaker, Ben Brown. Ben is the author of the book, “Master The Art of Closing The Sale”.  In the book, he shares a ten step process that can truly transform your sales strategy. You may also remember him from past articles I wrote,  “What Is A Sale?” and “In Sales Confidence Is A Necessity”.

After I had settled in for the evening I sent my colleague the article Ben had written for her to read and reflect on. It’s a short article and with permission from Ben, I share with you below. If you are a business owner and don’t like or love your product, it may be time for you to step back and re-evaluate exactly where you are and what you really want.

Is it time to move on?

“Walking away from something can be one of the hardest things we do. This is also true when it comes to our businesses. But, if you don’t like or love your product, it’s time to walk away from it. The fact that you no longer like or love your product may be costing you to lose sales.

Our lives aren’t the same as the way were 15, 10 and even 5 years ago. As we grow and experience life, we learn more about ourselves. We become more self-aware and as business owners we may find, the product we are selling does not interest us anymore. You may have started the business to earn extra income, or because your friend or family member told you it was a great idea. But, is this what you really want to be doing with your life?

It doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a business or be an entrepreneur. It just means it may be time to rethink the product or services you offer – and that’s okay!

Don’t allow yourself to stay trapped selling something that you don’t enjoy talking about. If you don’t enjoy talking about your product or service, your potential customers will know it. They won’t want to do business with you. As the saying goes, people do business with people they know like and trust. How can they trust you if you are trying to sell them a product you don’t even believe in?

Don’t feel obligated to the product and don’t be afraid to make a change. Develop an exit strategy from your current business. As part of the process, include a transition plan and start-up strategy for your new business adventure.

Remember why you chose to have your own business, find the passion again and make it happen. If you find yourself needing help with the process, let’s schedule some time to talk – http://call.360salesconsulting.com Together we can get you back on the road to success!”

Is it time for a change?

So what do you think? Is it time for you to make some changes in your business? Are you ready to step in a different direction? Whatever you decide, don’t let fear hold you back from creating a life you desire. Go find your passion again and create something great!
