People and businesses need professionals to help them fill vacancies with the right candidates. If you’re thinking of working in recruitment, there are to key elements you should know more about – training and software.

Recruitment Training

If you haven’t attended a training program in a while, it’s understandable you might be a little nervous. To put you at ease, let’s start with a quick overview of what you can expect.

Recruitment revolves around attracting individuals to a certain job, assessing whether a person is qualified for the job, and ultimately selecting the right person. It is an industry which is central to all other industries. By this I mean it’s something that every organization, no matter what industry it is, can benefit from.

There are different types of recruitment companies. The most obvious and common one is an employment agency. However, there are also recruitment and job hunting websites, some of which provide free job advertising. You may have also heard of the term “headhunter”. Headhunter is just another name for an employment recruiter or executive search. No matter what area of recruitment you want to get into, you will need some sort of training.

What Training Do You Need To Succeed…

The way in which you will be trained depends entirely on the recruitment company you are employed by. However, there are some core skills and traits you need to possess or develop. First, you will be taught how to communicate effectively with the clients you deal with. This will involve listening attentively while also making sure they understand everything you share with them.

You will also be taught how to deal with problems quickly and innovatively. Your problem-solving skills are a crucial part of recruitment. Although you should have experience in this area, you should also receive training as well as practice exercises.

During the training process, you will also be taught about the industry itself. You will learn about current hiring trends and basic qualifications for different types of jobs. You will also learn how to use social media platforms such as LinkedIn, to find potential job applicants.

In addition to all the things mentioned above, you will receive training in the areas of interviewing, CV, resume and job description writing. These are areas you should become very familiar with if you want to succeed in recruitment. The core principles will be taught and through experience, you will learn to perfect them.

Hopefully, this recruitment training overview has helped to broaden your knowledge of the industry and what you can expect during your training period.

Using recruitment databases to find job candidates

There are lots of different ways in which agencies can find suitable candidates for their clients. Top quality recruitment businesses will use a balanced mix of several different options. These include advertising in the local and national press, creating advertisements on online job posting websites and looking through databases in order to find individuals. The last option is becoming widely utilized as it presents a whole host of benefits to the recruitment agency and the business seeking to employ someone.

Benefits of using recruitment databases…

The difference between using a recruitment database and the other methods mentioned is that you manually search for the candidates rather than them getting in contact with you. There are several reasons why this proves to be advantageous. The first is because it allows the person searching to be very selective and to devise a shortlist of candidates who would all be suitable for the job. Alternatively, agencies have to sift through applications sent in and most of the time there are a lot of people who do not even match the job description. This can certainly be tedious and frustrating work.

Another reason why many people choose to use a database is that it’s a great way to find someone for a quick fill position. Nowadays because of the fast-changing nature of the economy and business structures, this is quite often the case. Moreover, sometimes people have to leave work unexpectedly because of personal reasons or they may have even been fired. If this individual was in a pivotal position then an immediate replacement may be necessary.

When posting a job advertisement you need to wait a certain amount of time in order to give people a chance to apply. After that, you have to go through all the applications and interview a number of people before you make your decision. As many hiring managers know, this is very time-consuming. Using a database is much easier because you simply look through people’s credentials and call them up to see if they would be interested. If so, you set up a time for a more formal interview.  All in all, the benefits of utilizing a recruitment database are vast.
