What Is Coaching?
WHAT COACHING IS NOT
A Coach is NOT a:
Therapist – A therapist typically focuses on problems rooted in the past and looks to uncover why things happened.
Consultant – A consultant has a specific agenda and works with a client to find possible solutions/answers they develop with the client.
Friends/Family – Friends and family members mean well but focus on their own agenda providing advice, and emphasizing the shoulds and should nots.
Sports Coach – A sports coach focuses on winning; win don’t lose, perfecting your form/game.
Mentor – A role model who has “been there and done that”. A mentor has a similar experience as the mentee and shows them the ropes.
What a Coach is:
The client-coach relationship is a partnership. It is a relationship based on confidentiality and trust. As you walk through the coaching process, you are able to break through what holds you back from manifesting your dreams. You begin to focus time and energy on how you want to live your life. You connect with what you value in life establishing goals and strategies to create a life YOU truly desire.
In coaching, it is not about knowledge but the shift that occurs and the resulting changes in behavior. A Coach can help you live your best life possible. It is all about having success on YOUR own terms.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT COACHING IS, IS COACHING RIGHT FOR YOU?
“Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
What do successful executives, joyful homemakers, and top athletes have in common? They all have a coach to help them live their dreams and be the best they can be. How about you? Coaching is a wonderful process for helping you have the life you want. However for it to work for you, you need to be willing to make a firm commitment to yourself to be responsible for getting what it is you want to be coached to change or achieve. Please take a few moments to find out how ready you are to live life to the fullest and be the best you can be.
Take a moment and answer these questions on your own, writing your answers down if you would like to. Answer the questions as honestly as you can.
