Did you know I host a podcast? On January 17, the 10th season of Let’s Coach with Carolyn kicked off with episode 211, Welcome to 2022. Wow, can you believe we are starting the tenth season?
The show first began in 2013, and it was first called Let’s Coach with Mark and Carolyn. Executive Coach Mark Thorn co-hosted the show with me for a few years before switching gears. I decided to continue the show by changing the title to Let’s Coach with Carolyn.
At the beginning of each season, I reflect on the challenges we witnessed throughout the year. There is so much going on right now; it’s easy to feel lost, alone, overwhelmed, and confused.
In full transparency, I didn’t end the last season the way I wanted. I planned to do a big season finale leading into the next season, but I could not do it. It’s hard to explain where I was and somewhat still am emotionally and mentally. One thing was clear; I wanted to keep doing the show.
For me, the show is not about having a million listeners or running out to get sponsors, although that would be nice. If we can make a difference in one person’s life, it is worth it. We sometimes forget how planting the seeds or impacting one person can cause a ripple effect. It can be a total game-changer for so many people. This year, I want to take the gloves off and go even deeper with some of the subjects we talk about on the show.
The pandemic COVID-19 we have experienced over the past two years has been life-changing for many of us; it has truly impacted how we live our lives.
Some have profited significantly over this, while others have found themselves feeling isolated and alone. It has impacted each one of us differently, and I don’t think we should spend time judging one another. When we can, we should provide resources, education, knowledge, support, or love to help navigate through the day-to-day. Some of the information out there will convince you your life is miserable and tell you, you must do things “this way” or “that way,” or you will remain unhappy. And, after you have made them tons of money, you realize you were happier and enjoying life much better before they sold you the jar of snake oil.
That’s one of the reasons why I love to listen to podcasts and Vlogs to gain a better understanding of myself and the world around me. It is also why I love doing the show to share experiences and ideas to help empower ourselves. I strive to empower you with information to make better decisions and choices. This way, you will not feel forced into a decision because a guru or influencer says you should.
There are some things I am just downright tired of. On the show, we will talk about how these issues impact us and what we can do about them. We will discuss how we can be better leaders in our work or business environments, homes, and leading ourselves.
We are kicking off our interviews talking about men being men, with Executive and Life Coach Jonah Larkin. Jonah believes we can find insight by returning to our roots as tribal beings. He is an expert in the field of attaining peak performance and well-being. In the episode, we talk about how many men are not feeling valued or important; they feel like they no longer have a purpose. They find themselves confused about their role and the anger and aggression they feel at times. We also touch on what women can do to support the men in their life in understanding their role and purpose.
