As a new entrepreneur, you probably feel like you have a lot on your plate. You’ll have so many things to remember, and a whole to-do list to complete every day. You really have to stay organized and on top of things to keep it all together. To help you out, here are a few time management strategies that can help new entrepreneurs get everything done. Take a look and see what can work for you!
Schedule Absolutely Everything
The first step as a new entrepreneur is to schedule absolutely everything. Having a time sensitive schedule where you block out certain tasks will help you to stay focused and know when you should be doing what. Without a time-sensitive schedule, it’s too easy to put things off and procrastinate. You might even end up doing things that don’t really matter while convincing yourself you’re being productive. Schedule what’s most important first and you will be crossing things off your to-do list before you know it.
Visualize The Day Before It Starts
Having everything on your schedule, helps you to have an idea of just what to expect for the day. Of course, things can change, but most days you will be able to follow the schedule as is. When you get up in the morning, visualize the day and set intentions. Go over the day and see yourself attending meetings, interacting with your team and staying focused and engaged throughout the day. Starting your day this way will help you know what success looks like for you and your team.
Do A Tasks That Take 2 Minutes Or Less First
If you have small tasks that you know will only take you a few minutes a piece, you can consider doing a few of these tasks first. They can give you a sense of achievement right away, leaving you feeling ready to get the more difficult tasks done. Just don’t get so caught up with these tasks that you end up procrastinating on the bigger tasks!
Tackle The Hardest Tasks As Early On As You Can
Some people like to do a few quick tasks and then get started on the hardest tasks. Some like to jump right to the hardest tasks first. It’s really up to you whichever of these strategies work for you. You just have to remember not to put the hardest tasks off for too long. Doing this can get you started on a vicious cycle of procrastination, and by the end of the day, you might realize you haven’t gotten anything of true value done.
Say No To Procrastination and Distractions
Procrastination can happen for numerous reasons. Some do it because they know their task is going to be tough and take a long time so they avoid it. Others might do it because they have more fun things they want to complete. It can help if you split up your difficult tasks into bite-sized chunks, and plan breaks so that they appear more manageable. You can then reward yourself by doing the more enjoyable, fun tasks next.
Avoid distractions by staying away from things like emails, social media, and your phone for as long as possible. The most successful people tend to avoid their phone for at least a few hours at the start of the day.
Find Apps And Software To Help You
There are many pieces of apps and software out there that could help you stay on track of your day. Some apps will help you with the automation of some of the tasks you do regularly. You could also consider using an appointment reminder service, so you never miss an important meeting. If there isn’t a piece of software or an app to help you, you could potentially outsource work to a freelancer to free up some time.
As a new entrepreneur, and even as a seasoned entrepreneur, you have a lot handle on a daily basis. To get and remain organized and to stay focused, you will want to implement various time management strategies. Start by trying the ones highlighted above. When you do, you’ll be able to spend more time doing the fun tasks you love the most.
