Adulting can be hard. Finding the right balance between life and work every single day as well as staying fit and healthy can be an almost impossible task. It is a huge challenge for a lot of us to deal with. The stress of work can take a toll on you, impacting not just your work performance but also life at home. There are small but powerful steps you can take to make things a little bit easier for yourself. Here’s are a few suggestions for you to consider.
Make a to-do list the night before or in the morning
At the end of the day, take time to review your tasks, what you have and haven’t completed. Create a list of what you want to accomplish the next day. Prioritize the list but focus primarily on the top three items. When you wake up in the morning, take a quick look at the list to see if there is anything you need to update. Throughout the day as you complete an item on the list, you can move to the next task.
Although it is helpful to do this in the evening, you can also do this in the morning before you start your workday. Try both and see what works best for you. Spending 10 minutes of your day writing a to-do list can make a massive difference in your day. Being able to come into work and not spend half an hour deciding what to do can increase productivity and reduce stress. It’s a definitely worth trying.
Work in sprints
Have you ever noticed when you can become distracted when working on a project too long? Your mind starts to wander and ideas stop coming to you. It might be time to take a break and pull away from the desk. You can take a quick walk around the building, check your email or read an article related to your industry. Taking a time-out is a good way to step back and refresh your mind. It is a simple thing to do but it will make your working day so much easier and will allow you to get more done.
Update your PC
It is important to update your computer whenever you’re prompted to. You should even check for updates every few weeks to maintain the workability of your machine. Any Managed IT Service Company will tell you how important it is to keep your computer updated. You want to keep your computer updated and working correctly and effectively and also keep it secure and safe from hackers. It only takes 10 minutes to do an update, so take that time out, make a cup of tea and have a rest for a moment.
Work as a team
Working as a team can reduce some of the stress you experience in the workplace. If you work alone all of the time on projects, you can get stuck and won’t be able to come up with new ideas. You can also use the team to bounce ideas off or sort out the details of an existing project. Make sure you have meetings every so often and make an effort to collaborate with the other people working with you. This might not seem like it will make a big difference but it can be a helpful thing for you in enhancing your work day.
Automate simple tasks
There’s no need for you to answer the phones, make appointments and manage social media post yourself! Outsourcing to virtual offices and virtual receptionists can be a true asset for your office. They can address some of the tasks that keep you and your staff busy making your working day much less stressful. Taking out these menial tasks can make all the difference and it will allow you to work at your own pace each day.
Try implementing one or more of the strategies and see the difference it can make in your day. You’ll find your day runs a bit more smoothly and you’ll have more time to focus on the things you truly excel at. Here’s to your success!
