Helping People Through Your Career

We live in an age that promotes self, but in reality, we’re all on the same team. We should try to help each other as much as possible. There are various ways you can do this. You can volunteer your time or simply have a thoughtful and caring attitude. Another way to help people is through your career. While some people choose their career based on how much money they can earn, or what they like doing, others choose a career to helps others.  The good news is these jobs can pay well and also rank high on job satisfaction scores.

Let’s take a look at a few careers you can consider.

On the Front Line

There’s no doubt who the real heroes of society are. It’s not the politicians or the billionaires who make the biggest difference. It’s the people who are on the front line, day in, day out. The police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, and paramedics are there to help people when they need it the most. Through the course of their career, they have a profound positive impact on the world and help to make society a safer place.

Also serving on the front line are our military servicemen and women. We often recognize them on Memorial Day and Veterans day however, we must not forget the true cost of freedom is not free.

Becoming their Best Selves

We all need a little help from time to time. For some people, this can involve professional help. This could mean working as a physiotherapist helping people overcome their physical difficulties. Another example would be helping people to improve their speech.  To do so may require you to go back to school to receive the right credentials. Take a look at what it takes it to earn a master’s degree from U of St. Augustine.  One area, in particular, that’s growing is mental health. With issues such as anxiety and depression on the rise, the world needs trained individuals who can help people work through their mental health problems. Aside from being well paid, these careers are appealing because there’s a lot of satisfaction in helping people to become the best version of themselves.

Another profession that’s on the rise is coaching. As you walk through the coaching process, you are able to break through what holds you back from manifesting your dreams.   You begin to focus time and energy on how you want to live your life. With coaching, it’s not about knowledge but the shift that occurs and the resulting changes in behavior. A Coach can help you live your best life possible.

Teaching the Next Generation

Children have always been the future. If we have a society of thoughtful, well-educated people, then the future for humanity will look bright. But of course, we need people to step up and actively teach them. If you think you have a passion for education, then look at becoming a teacher — you might just discover that it’s your vocation, rather than your career. There’s also a lot of opportunity for development, as you can move behind the scenes and help shape the education system.

In the Lab

Much of humanity’s good work takes place behind closed doors, in a lab. If you think of the major problems that humans face such as illness and food supply,  you’ll find most of these issues are improved by people who are conducting studies and experiments in the lab. If you have an eye for detail and a creative mind, then why not look at becoming a scientist? It’s a profession that has produced more world-changing people than any other and can have a tremendously positive impact on the world.

These are just a few of the careers that allow you to serve and help others.  If you find yourself stuck and not sure of what direction you want to take, consider working with a career counselor or coach such as myself.  A career coach or counselor can assist you in creating a career plan that is uniquely designed for you. Remember, it’s all about success on YOUR own terms!
