“Beauty starts in your head, not in your mirror.”
Wow, how many times do you see these words come across your social media newsfeed or in an email? We smile at the quote and think how true it is, but we don’t live life like it’s true. We can easily be sucked into society’s image of beauty. Being told what clothes we should wear, criticized for the texture and design of our hair, judged by our weight, you get the idea right? We let society tell us what we see in the mirror is not beauty, letting the media and hottest looks and trends get all up in our head. We cannot see Truth.
I know because it’s something I have experienced myself; not knowing my truth. Sometimes I still have to catch myself when the thoughts start coming back into my head. What I found is that it can hold you back from being who you really want to be. It can stop you from living a full life.
You hold back from trying to get the promotion you want. You hide in the corner avoiding the spotlight. Even when you do the work, you let someone else take the credit. As each day passes, you get further and further from your dream and your goals.
Stop letting society define you! Stop letting society tell you who you have to be. Let your let shine and be YOU! Become grounded in who you are.
If you are grounded in who you are, beauty will start in your head and society will not be able to bring you down. You must know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Come on now. You know God doesn’t make any junk.
Take a moment and look in the mirror and tell yourself just how beautiful you are. Tell yourself how much you love you and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. If it seems hard, try it again the next day and continue every time you pass a mirror. Give yourself a wink and smile and go seize the day!
Remember, you are strong. You are powerful. You are beautiful…
