What Is Coaching?
WHAT COACHING IS NOT
A Coach is NOT a:
Therapist – A therapist typically focuses on problems routed in the past and looks to uncover why things happened.
Consultant – A consultant has a specific agenda and works with a client to find possible solutions/answers they develop with the client.
Friends/Family – Friends and family members mean well but focus on their own agenda providing advice, and emphasizing the shoulds and should nots.
Sports Coach – A sports coach focuses on winning; win don’t lose, perfecting your form/game.
Mentor – A role model who has “been there and done that”. A mentor has a similar experience as the mentee and shows them the ropes.
What a Coach is:
The client coach relationship is a partnership. It is a relationship based on confidentiality and trust. A Coach works with the client connecting inner passion and purpose to outer goals and strategies to obtain powerful and sustainable results. A coach helps a client create greater fulfillment and identify and live their dreams. A coach has no agenda except to help the client get what he or she wants helping the client to move forward in life. Coaching helps you break through what holds people back from manifesting their dreams – and challenges people to focus time and energy on what they want to do. In coaching it is not about knowledge but the shift and resulting changes in behavior. A Coach helps a client live the best life possible.
NOW THAT YOU KNOW WHAT COACHING IS, IS COACHING RIGHT FOR YOU?
