Rock-A-Bye Baby Part Two

In my last article I started a discussion about one small thing that you could focus on that can change the course of your day, your attitude and your energy. How this one thing can impact your career,  business –  your life. Do you remember what it is? Get more sleep!  

  Many of us are in denial about the amount of sleep we need and don’t even realize we suffer from sleep derivation. In the article, Rock-A-Bye Baby, I provided five signs for you to consider and see if they were showing up in your life. There are many other ways sleep deprivation could be showing up. Here are five more signs for you to look out for.

Getting sick more often.  Not getting enough sleep does impact your immune system. You can get colds easier, even in the summertime.  Your immune system is not as strong as it should be and you will not be able to fight off illnesses as easy.

So Emotional.  Do you find yourself crying or getting teary eyed and emotional over things that you normally would not. For example, scenes in a movie you wouldn’t normally cry over. You can easily become sad, angry, and show signs that are similar to those that suffer from depression. 

Skin.  If you are not getting enough sleep your hormones can be off-balance. This leaves you more prone to break outs and wrinkles. You can actually appear to look older. Just getting more sleep can clear that up. I don’t know about you, but I plan to grow old gracefully.

Eyesight.  Sleep deprivation can effect your eyesight. When you are not getting enough sleep you don’t control the muscles of the eyes as well so reading and/or seeing things close up will appear blurry to you. This can happen even if you have 20/20 vision.

State of mind.  Not getting enough sleep can increase your stress level. A lot of times you can’t sleep because of the stress in your life. With having to think about your finances, job, family, etc. how can you get peace of mind. You have to find ways to reduce your stress, such as exercise or meditation. Establish an evening routine that allows for a time of relaxation and recuperation.

  Take time to observe your behavior and see if any of these signs are showing up for you. You may find you need to make adjustments so you can have focus and energy to live life to the fullest. When you are not showing up full, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, you are not able to give all that you can of yourself in your career, business – your life. Getting the appropriate amount of sleep, for you, can increase your energy level and the health benefits are tremendous!
